The LECOM Institute for Successful Aging has an immediate opening for a full-time Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor (RN).
Nurse Aide Training Program Instructor

JOB SUMMARY: The candidate will perform as an instructor in a regular classroom and clinical setting, presenting instructions in a state-approved Nurse Aide Training Program. The instructor follows the student from the application, through the courses, and provides support through the state examination process.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Promotes a positive and desirable atmosphere within the classroom setting to ensure maximum student motivation.
  • Meets goals established by management every Program Year.
  • Maintains a high degree of discipline within the classroom setting in order to ensure maximum learning.
  • Instructs in the following: an overview of career opportunities within health care; communication and observation skills; medical law; ethics and confidentiality; psychological aspects of patient care; basic medical terminology; basic anatomy and physiology; safety and emergency first aid; basic infection control concepts; core procedures for healthcare workers, phlebotomy, EKG theory and practice, clinical procedures and prescriptions.
  • Establishes a high degree of student/instructor rapport
  • Utilizes all possible curriculum resources available.
  • Responsible for adequate classroom preparation.
  • Maintains student personnel folders.
  • Records and forwards daily attendance to the Student Records area.
  • Assists in the completion of all necessary student/employment forms.
  • Ensures security measures are taken for buildings and equipment.
  • Accountable for the cleanliness of classrooms.
  • Prepares reports such as student/staff hours, requisitions, and monthly student evaluations.
  • Responsible to recruit, interview, and screen candidates for enrollment into the courses.
  • Attends required staff training sessions.
  • Adheres to all aspects of the institutional Quality Assurance Plan.
  • Clearly communicates and consistently models appropriate CSS and employability skills including personal responsibility and computer fluency.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, students, and property adheres to safety practices in all areas of responsibility.
  • Cultivates and maintains a climate on the center that is free of harassment, intimidation, and disrespect to provide a safe place for staff and students to work and learn.
  • May also provide clinical support within institutional facilities a performs other duties as assigned.
  • Additionally, will be responsible to coordinate and follow through with Temporary CNA training protocols, as allowed by state guidelines.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with at least one-year of experience in a long-term care facility.
  • Must have Teaching the Educator Certification or be eligible for the Teaching the Educator Certification. To be eligible, the candidate must have one year of experience in a long-term care facility
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous teaching experience is a plus.

TUITION REIMBURSEMENT:

The RN and LPN Tuition Reimbursement Program were created to assist LECOM Health employees by offsetting a portion of their educational expenses.
