LECOM Health offers a full continuum of care from Independent Living and Personal Care apartments to Skilled Nursing Care and Outpatient services including In-Home Care, Home Health, and Hospice under the direction of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging.

SUMMARY:

The LECOM Institute for Successful Aging is currently seeking Facility Educator who will focus on facility-wide education to all staff. Educations will include new employee orientation training, monthly education and ongoing education. The Facility Educator must maintain licensure and education records for all staff.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Will report as assigned to any of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging facilities, such as but not limited to LECOM Senior Living Center, LECOM Nursing and Rehabilitation, LECOM at Village Square, Regency at Southshore, Parkside at North East, Parkside at Westminster, Parkside at Corry LECOM Home Care, Visiting Nurse Association or LECOM Center for Health and Aging;
  • Knowledge, skills, attitude, and energy to consistently provide resident centered care;

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION DAY 1:

  • Responsible to provide education to all newly hired staff (from all facilities) during New Employee Orientation to provide education such as Abuse Training, HIPPA, Infection Control to all onboarding staff;
  • Responsible to ensure each newly onboarded employee’s documentation of orientation training is complete and provided to Human Resources to be uploaded to their employee file;

NEW EMPLOYEE ORIENTATION TRAINING:

  • Work collaboratively with Nursing Schedulers and Department Managers to ensure training schedules are created for new hires and preceptors assigned (as needed);
  • Responsible to ensure each new staff member is assigned a New Employee Competency Packet;
  • Responsible to ensure each new staff member completes a New Employee Competency Packet, and may assist in the assessment of nursing competencies;
  • Ensures that 100% of new staff have completed their Competency Packet within 90 days of hire;

MONTHLY AND AS-NEEDED EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS:

  • Responsible and accountable for the provision of education to enhance the quality of patient care and the culture of safety in accordance with the mission and vision and goals of the LECOM Institute for Successful Aging;
  • Responsible to plan, conduct and document at least one monthly in-service to all applicable facility staff (either all-nursing or all-staff) each month covering topics of most significance for the facility at that time;
  • Responsible to complete educational In-Services on an as-needed and ongoing basis to address the needs of the facility, either for (either all-nursing or all-staff) as directed by the Administrator or Director of Nursing;
  • Responsible to plan and conduct these educational in-services on off-shifts to ensure coverage of trainings to all staff in need of the specific education;
  • Coordinate with the DON, Administrator and Scheduler, to ensure all staff who are required to schedule, attend or re-schedule have completed the necessary educations do so, however, the Educator is the responsible party to ensure all active staff have completed their education;

MONTHLY ON-LINE EDUCATION COURSES:

  • Assign and track ongoing monthly online educational courses (ie. Collins Learning) for all facility staff to ensure all active staff have completed timely and appropriately;
  • Responsible to follow up with staff approaching non-compliance;
  • Coordinate with the DON, Administrator and Scheduler, to ensure all staff who are required to complete the necessary monthly online educations do so, however, the Educator is the responsible party to ensure all active staff have completed their monthly online educations;

CREDENTIAL RENEWALS:

  • Responsible to ensure all Staff Credentials are renewed in a timely fashion including but not limited to Professional Licensure, C.N.A. Certifications, CPR Cards and PPDS;
  • Responsible to follow up with staff approaching non-compliance;
  • Responsible to report to DON and Administrator any staff who may be approaching non-compliance;
  • Must coordinate with DON, Administrator and Scheduler to have non-compliant employees removed from the schedule (and in what situations the employee may continue working);

MANAGER ON-CALL:

  • Will be responsible to rotate on-call responsibilities and rotation as determined by the Administrator and Director of Nursing;
  • In coordination and in rotation with the DON and ADON, will be required to act as an RN Supervisor in the event of a call or an emergent situation where a RN Supervisor will not be present for a shift to ensure proper coverage;
  • Must also maintain their clinical skills and licensure; · Assists residents with the activities of daily living including, but not limited to; bathing, dressing, dining, and transportation;
  • Must be able to take direction and receive assignments from the Director of Nursing, Administrator and other management personnel from time to time; and
  • Accept other duties needed/assigned for the Institution’s needs.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have an RN license in the state of PA
  • Must have/obtain current CPR certification
  • Previous staff training/education experience is preferred, but not required
